NO! NO! NO!, not those, just to let you all know
that dopey here has changed his broadband provider, but being a bit dim
forgot to take a list of his e-mail contacts before he changed, now one
feels as though one has returned to the Dark Ages, one would be very
grateful to any of ones chums if they could drop him a line at stuspot.ho@talktalk.net thereby allowing him to return to the real world and normal communications.

Hi All, Sticky, what’s the connection between yourself
and the Camel? Don't know how many million camels there are in
Aust but quite a few. They are quite a pest and do a lot of
damage to the outback. We have so many we are exporting them back to the
Middle East. Put a new photograph of myself up yesterday,
wife and I will be back in the UK middle of next month visiting my
sister and brother. So if you see this ugly head around you will
know it is I. Yes they are my ears and I am not a wing nut or
helicopter. Ken

Didn't see any camels between Sydney & Melbourne
during a trip to Oz, and only two Roos (one dead on the road). Must have
done a good export job Ken? Is that the old Tech badge on your baseball
cap? Good clue to match the side flaps! Have a good flight. Graham

Hi Graham, You won't see much between Sydney and Melbourne in the way of wildlife to be honest. Have a look at this website http://www.camelsaust.com.au/
I would see more alive and dead Kangaroos around my place than you
would see on that journey. The cap with a similar badge to the
Tech School that I wear is one from Bath RFC, my kids bought me one
a few years back. With not much hair and already having one
cataract removed and another one in the left eye, plus a skin
cancer removed from the leg and sun spots burnt off the face and head a
few times. I tend to keep covered up and protected in the sun. Caps are
not much good as the tops of the ears get burnt, but they are better
than nothing and okay in the winter and other times when its not too hot
or sunny. Ken

I see what you mean Ken. The Sahara had better watch
out! We zig-zagged around a bit on that trip; coastal resorts (superb
seafood), Canberra (great Champers with the wife's cousin), Wagga Wagga
(fun to meet a pal), Ballarat (fantastic rib-eye steaks) and Bendigo
(gold mine- no samples) and loved Melbourne more than Sydney.
Recognise the badge now. The rugby season for Bath starts tomorrow, so
hope their form will improve! Guess what? I found my old Tech school
tie in the back of a cupboard! Watch this space for piccies. Not sure if
it will be in wear though, as it looks quite short. Did anyone keep
a cap? I recall getting joshed as a 1st Year as mine had a shiny gold
ring in the first couple of September days in 1956. I was told if I lost
it the caretaker (what was his name?) would provide one for 3d. I
tossed mine over the wall into the bomb site and duly bought a
'distressed' one, dull ring and cardboard missing from the peak. No
problems after that (except from Mum!). The rumour was that the
caretaker recovered the caps and distressed them for his beer money. The caps were banned soon after this. Graham

Evening all, sorry not to have replied for a few
days, been busy. Ken to answer your question about the relevance
of the camel pic it goes back to last years hols in China, where memsahb
and self did a spot of camel treking in the Gobi desert. Now as any
aficionado of camels would tell you, camels are very similar to other
vegetarian quadrupeds in the workings of their digestive tract, as you
will no doubt understand this is not so good when one is last man/camel
in a string of closely tethered animals. If I tell you that the pic is
of the camel I was riding and that we were indeed 'tail end charlies'
you will perforce understand the expression on the unfortunat beasts
face, the expression on mine was somewhat similar, except for the
slightly green tint to the skin, had there been flies in the Gobi no
doubt we would have been surrounded by a cloud of them. Oh! I should
also mention that camels fart at about the same frequency as your
average horse, i.e. about every five seconds. The moral of this is, if
riding a camel never ever volunteer to be at the back, to hell with
women and children first, bag the one at the head of the line and stay
there.
Another slight correction, unfortunately we have two members with
similar surnames, John 'Sticky' Stickland, and myself Stu 'Four Eyed,
Baldy, Git' Stickler, I'm sure John wouldn't want to be confused with me
too often, I am a traffic warden after all, hahaha !!!

Hi Garham/Stu, Looks like you did a bit of tripping around whilst you
were here in Aust Graham. This area (Canberra
Region) is what they call a 'Cool Climate Wines' area;
the main wine grapes grown around here are for Rieslings and
Chardonnays. Not a big wine drinker myself, prefer a nice cold
beer on a hot day. Must admit I always loved Sydney the
most, but when my children married and settled in Melbourne, I
have become rather fond of that place. I did notice that
Bath Rugby start there season today against Leeds in an away
game. Not a big follower of the RU anymore, too many stoppages for
my liking. If I had any school uniform around the house when my
parents left the UK, I think that it would have
been ditched. In 1963 we were very limited in what we could bring
to Aust and my father being a builder had enough tools and other stuff
to ship without any extras from four children. Think my cap
ended up in the Avon near the weir on completion of 4th Grade, and in
5th grade no cap was required if my memory serves me right.
Now to Stu, sorry that I mixed you up with Sticky and sorry to Sticky
as well. No excuses offered. I guessed the Camels were
part of a holiday, that you had. Talking of the Gobi
Desert. It is funny you mentioned this place, a friend
of mine who has backpacked all around the world and on his own some,
went to China then down to the Gobi. He was telling me
how difficult it was to get there and what happened when he got
there. Three limos turned up when he was in some museum place
or something and out of one-stepped Jimmy Carter (ex US
President). He got talking and has his photograph
taken with JC and then out of nowhere came these helicopters
and took Carter away. Apparently it was the day after the 9/11
disasters in the US and security stepped in. Back onto the
Camels, about the only thing I remember from School Chemistry was
that the scientific name for camel dung was Sal Ammoniac.
Pretty rotten smelling stuff, so I imagine it is not good to play dutch
ovens with Camels. Ken

Hello guys, I have been trying to post here .. not
very sucessful, even private messages not working on Live. have tried to
contact Stu and John Dicks etc. Only way I could get through
(hopefully) was "Friends Reunited" mail box.
Is anyone else
suffering with the site ? .. I must admit to not being on here for
nearly a week.. and I notice it has not been very busy .. are the two
related?
Might be off next week on hols .. if weather improves on
the south coast .. hope everyone is o.k. , and Jhhn (Sticky) .. I
haven`t forgot to reply .. just having major troubles with TalkTalk at
the moment ( I think).
Catch you all later if this message gets through .. 4 more haven`t (so far) today .. Bill

Hi Bill an' all, I too have been having a lot of
trouble accessing this site, takes ages to load, when it does ! Tried to
send a reply to Bill last night and it just wouldn't let me, gave up in
the end. Also trouble accessing my Windows live page. No trouble with
other sites, although my mail's still all over the place.

Thanks for the reply via Friends Reunited Stu .. I don`t
know if it`s any help to you but you can configure Outlook Express for
TalkTalk (aka AOL) use. Just add an account to Outlook ..put in user
name & password for TalkTalk ...for servers ..POP3 (incoming) use
mail.talktalk.net .. SMTP (outgoing) use smtp.talktalk.net .. Account is
(your email address)@talktalk.net and then your password for that
account.
This might be usefull for people to know, I found it
saves a lot of hassle .. I don`t have to reorganise anthing to be able
to keep my contacts and emails up-to-date on the computer. The
bonus is that you can export all the saved emails & contacts
straight into your new computer (provided it uses Outlook Express or
Windows Mail such as Vista / Windows 7).
Rainy sunday afternoon
ahead me thinks .. holiday on South Coast off this week .. looks like
heavy rain .. back to normal folks, summer is over .. it`s official and
you heard it here first !!! Ha Ha .. P.S. look out for Camels . and `Roos!

Chaps, I have found recently that connection through
Mozilla Firefox either times-out or says 'Done' on a blank page. The
message sometimes states 'connection reset' or that the site is too
busy. The pictures of my old Tech tie are about to appear. A good job it
cannot repeat some of the sights it must have seen! Graham

Hi Frustrated Fellows
The reason it has not been busy is because the website has been a
crock of shite for weeks now for all the reasons already said. Where is
Tony? Perhaps he can contact his personal assistant in Microsoft for us.
Cheers

"Tony the Tiler" has been locked into his bathroom by
his wife Janice for the last 14 days or so Steve .. good to hear from
you and Stu, Ken and Graham .. Graham, if you think Mozilla is
slow try Internet Explorer instead . if you log on just before going to
bed .. it`ll be just about ready to connect by the time you get up for
breakfast!. I reckon we should persist in using up as much
bandwidth as is possible on "Windows Live", if not the "Spammers" and
"Hackers" on here will have won more than their fair share.
I
had to turn off all access to my profile to only contacts and you
friends, I was getting about 10 emails a day and "invites" to dubious
sites were coming out of my ears .. The most unusual one I received was
from a "young lady" who wanted to show me her undies and snapshots she
took on holiday at the beach. I said "thanks , but no thanks,
there`s enough free blubber on the Internet as it is !
There ... that`s so much better now !!!! .. Best Wishes

Ahhh thats better, the bathroom that is not me, had to
nip off to the doctors the other day as I have been kneeling down a lot
lately and ended up with swollen feet and ankles, wipped off my socks
for him to have a look and he grabbed an ankle and it felt as if he had
pushed his thumb in up to the bone as it was I ended up with tablets to
make me pee a bit more and loose some of the fluid, what with my tablets
to stop me peeing in the night I don,t know if im coming or have been
already , think I will put another row of tiles up or a bit of grouting,
something very satisfying about grouting, its all these pills!!!

Bill about the Roos, hit one with your car and
your car is history. In this town (a bit bigger population
than Bristol, but covering an area that would take
in Bath/Bristol and WSM) last year we had 1,000 accidents
involving Roos that were reported to the Police and they reckon that
there would be another 1,000 not reported. Ken

At least you are in the correct place if those pills do
not work Tony! So far the connection has been instant the last two views
Francis. Can imagine seeing the size of that dead Roo on the road, Ken.
In 1967 I hit a badger in my original 'E Reg' Mini. Looked, no sign of
any destruction and the badger was in the verge stone dead. A month
later drove to Helston and back for summer hols. Some of M5 built so
enjoyed the run. Brother, a car nerd, welcomes us back and checks over
the machine. Calls me over to look at the front offside tyre. Rubber
worn through to the steel cables! Tracking out. I had been doing over 80
mph on that tyre! Whew! Thank goodness I buy radials. Now if it had
been a Roo! PS. Why does Ken's message always echo? Graham

Sorry about the echo Graham. Hope your Badger was
vaccinated. Being serious hitting any animal on the road is pretty
frightening, especially at speed. If I hit a snake, I jam on the
brakes and try to skin them. Although law protects them, you
can drive over snakes and not cause them any damage. Not that I
have been brave enough to stop the car and go back and
check. My biggest problem with a 1969 Mini, I bought
new, was keeping the distributor dry in wet weather. They
probably came with a distributor cover in the UK? But here that
was an additional costly option. Ken
