Hi All
Am I the only one that cannot stand that Graham Norton? He not only
commands prime time TV, he is doing Chris Evan's breakfast show and now
the BBC has announced he is to take over Jonathan Ross radio show!!!
Can anybody recommend an alternative radio station?
Grumpy old man (but straight)
Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve and all,
You are not alone Steve !!! I think he's a complete "silly girl ."
Let's see how smutty we can be !!! A 100% twat !!!! As for Radio
stations, I do a lot of listening whilst driving and always listen to
the local BBC station. Then at 1100 turn to Radio 4 for their plays
reports and, of course, The Archers, an everyday story of country folk
!! I always thought R4 was boring but with age (maturity !!) I've grown
into it and become............a Grumpy Old Man
!!!! and very very straight !!!!

Hello boys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well I say Graham
has got you going hasn't he I can't stand him either, I'm not
homophobic but some people get right up your nose, I don't like that
ginger git either. Come to that I don't listen to radio, or watch much
TV, although if you get to read this today Steve there's a documentary
film on BBC4 tonight on Tom Petty.
Most of my musical listening comes via contacts on Facebook and
YouTube, on the Tube one contact leads to another and there's some
excellent stuff that's so obscure you're never going to hear it on
radio, or TV for that matter, hence the Chuck Prophet and the Mission
Express gig last week which was a blinder. Wilko Johnson and the Solid
Senders in three weeks.
Stu
PS. funny thing one of my friends on Facebook recommended me for a
new series of Grumpy Old Men a couple of weeks ago, or as my Mrs would
say "That's you that is" !!
PPS The only good Norton's got two wheels !

Hi Lads.
Just got back from a few days working at Burnley.
Saw the new thread was entitled 'Norton' and thought we were in for some interesting commemt on featherbeds, Manx, SS etc.
To my surprise it was comment upon the irrevelant school girl
ramblings of one, Graham Norton, well known Irish poof of this parish.
Never mind, his stay at Radio 2 is only temporary and the Ginger Whinger
will soon be back! Out of the frying pan into the fire sort of springs
to mind.
I understand that he is also to replace the other waste of space, Johnathan Woss, what can I say?
I suppose the only redeeming feature is that he doesn't make offencive phone calls to people, as far as I know.
Makes one wonder what Auntie Beeb is doing with our hard earned cash.
OK, so I'm tired and can't summon the energy for a full scale rant
so guess I'll just stick to quietly grumping along with the rest.
Yep, I get just the same comments from the management about being
grumpy. Why is it that as they get older they become more tollerant of
the whole world except the one to which they are betrothed 'until
death us do part'?
What's with this 'straight' thing, from what I remember of us all, 'round' would be a more apt description.
'Tis our age you know, I'm not ageist or homophobic or any of the
other many labels invented by the modern PC society, but you have to
face the fact that for men, with age comes wisdom, intollerance,
grumpyness and an increase in waist band size.
That's life! Bloody good job too.
Have fun.
Sticky.

Hello all you hetro-sexual males .. and any that are / have considered "batting for the other side"
Lets us just agree to say (for now), that everyone deserves a place
on the planet, the majority here (I conclude) do not wish Graham Norton
to join us on this site !!. I would like to enjoy his fame, share
in his wages for a week or so. Like Julian Clarey (s.p.) ..he brings
humour into our lives in a sort of "awkward" way.
I have to admit that two women in a bed does appeal, (especially if
I happen to be the third in a trio) .. most men will agree to that
fantasy .. but two men in the bed? .. best place for that is on
"East-Enders" .. at least it can be switched off. All pre-pubescent
males have "awkward moments" about their sexuality I`m sure. I,
(luckily), worked out that women had more fascinating bits to attract me
with. So, in my case, any moments of indecision were overtaken when
Tessa Goth arrived at the Sandpits park in Bath equipped with tight
hugging lycra jeans, and an even tighter hugging top.
On that day I started combing my hair and put away my glasses in
their little brown case. It did me little good, I was now very
presentable .. but couldn`t quite see the "eyes" that the girls were
making at me ... so, counter productive moves made then on the fashion
front. Ah, well . nothing changes.
Regards to all .. Norton "Dominator" ... appropriate name for a "blokes" bike.

Can't honestly say I've ever found Graham Norton or
Julian Clary even the slightest bit amusing Bill, Paul O Grady
entertaining on occasion, Eddie Izzard funny - yes. Their money? yeah OK
fair do's, I'd have it seeing as how we didn't win the Euro Millions
yet again, I'm not voting for Mr Cameron again if he's going to let me
down like that, (actually I didn't this time either). And as for batting
for the other side I was never any good at sports, quite liked watching
netball, (over the wall at the convent in North Parade if anyone really
wants to know). Ah well back to the erecting - shelves that is.

Hi All
I'm more inclined to agree with Stu, Bill, but I'm fascinated by
this Tessa Goth, should we know who she is or was she a private fantasy
of yours?
I will admit that I didn't know about the netball that could be
seen from North Parade, but I wish I had at the time! There were a
couple of convent girls I'd have given my right arm to have seen giving
full rein to their wobbly bits. Ah well dream on, I s'pose they are
drawing their pension now!
I was never much good at sport either Stu, it was a fair bugger
having to run the first part of the cross country course just to see
what was heading up the Pines that afternoon! The masters, bless 'em,
all thought we were keen because we got away with such gusto, but they
never worked out why we were so keen or why we were always the last
back.
Ah well, happy days.
Have fun.

Ah, cross country ... our delight was "far from the
madding lines of G.W.R." .. or the "Smoky S. & D.", we never got to
see smoke stacks and wheels John .. just divots and cows 9of the horned
variety.
Fantasy? .. not just a personal one, Tessa was the subject of many a
boy in Oldfield Park bed-time fantasy. She eventually married another
lad (Chris Price) who also lived in Hillside road. She lived in a
pre-fab opposite the park gate, you could not help but wonder at how one
girl got all the best bits in one hit !. Chris and her have since
divorced .. too good to last I suppose.
Can`t always have what you want in this life John, I do here that
netball is still played at some schools .. City of Bath in Upper
Oldfield Park have an outdoor facility (allegedly). A long journey just
to satisfy a youthful desire, and a bonus .. you might get a free ride
to Manvers Street station and get to sign their little book.
The summer? .. did I miss it in my endeavour to appease the long suffering Carole, or is there more ash cloud on the horizon?
Don`t work too hard .. bye 4 now..

Bill I'm always heartened by the old saying, "You
can't always get what you want, but you just might find, if you take
some time, you get what you need." Now where did I hear that ?

Hi both.
You are alright, Bill, I grew out of watching convent girls wobbly
bits at about the end of the fourth form and that was a long, long time
ago. Your comments about Tessa and her attributes remind me of a similar
one at Corsham called Monica. Makes you wonder doesn't it?
Sorry you missed out on the deligfhts of the S and D during your
cross country runs, why else would anyone in their right minds be
tempted to run across cold wet fields?
I like your phylosophical gems Stu, where on earth do you get them?
Must admit that this one does have a ring of truth about it!
Have fun all.

Hi all
Apologies for starting the thread and not sending a reply. When I
checked website it was showing no replies so I thought nobody was
interested!!! Anyway, looks like we are all singing from the same
hymn sheet about the afore mentioned idiot called Norton. Mind I also
agree that the ginger twat is not a lot better only that he bats for the
same side as us. Did you see that he has just purchased a Ferrari for
12 million quid? Should have stuck with Mad Mick and kept up the DJ
career Bill !!
I am a fully signed up member to the fact that The Rolling Stones
are the greatest rock n' roll band in the world. We have seen several
fantastic concerts and the first was at the Pav in 1964. Have just
downloaded the reissue of Exile on Main Street with previously
unreleased bonus tracks. Shall find an hour of quality time and
enjoy listening to it and the memories it will bring back.
Stu, I have never been really sure whether I like Tom Petty or not.
Hope you know what I mean. I started buying albums some 20 years ago
and thought I had discovered a new talent!! Trouble was every album
sounded the same, you only need one Tom Petty album. Did a great job
with the Travellin' Wilburys though.
I cannot say I was a Convent girl officiando and set my sights
lower in the educational system. Nothing wrong with Oldfield girls or
West Twerton girls!!! Those were the days my friend (easy one Tony!).
Looks like you have some summer coming in the UK so fire up the BBQ
for the weekend, have a great one and put on some Stones music!!
Have fun, cheers!
