Steam

Evening All

Think I'm all right concerning the job Bill, had a little chat to the boss and suggested that it would be a good idea to offer receipts to boat users thereby allowing us to keep a record of useage on the slipway as seperate from the car park, then spent half an hour crawling chatting about his new motor bike, then a chat to the ladies in the office, so I think I'm allright for a bit anyway. It's not as if anybody down here's going to use a mobile phone and credit card to pay for parking anyway it costs an extra 20p. they're far too tight for that.
I'll look forward to toasting my sausage on your BBQ.

Amazing how many of us are steam and vintage enthusiasts isn't it, I know chaps of our generation look fondly back at the steam era, but a number of us still have an active interest, mine's largely photography when I get time and chance, perhaps I'll post a gallery sometime. If anybody's interested there's a chap who's restored a steam launch and a couple of times a year launches it from the slipway, I'll photograph it next time he comes down and get some details.

PS. thought it was time to start a new thread.

I have checked settings on here and there is no way to allow all messages to be shown in continous aheet form .. stiil, it`s free .. and it works .. "if it  ain`t broke" and all that . Good news about your job front ..yes, that 20p surchare will sure deter them ..Ha Ha.  I`ve just had a visitor in the shape of our one and only Tony Eccles .. on his scooter .. we tried out my new scooter .. he`s impressed . he may buy one .. wealthy bloke or what? .. Well, beautiful day here again .. about to mow the lawns now .. catch you all again later (or tomorrow)

Hi Stu, Bill and all.
See you have started a new discussion under the 'steam' flag. First of all before I forget again, congratulations on the steam photos, Bath Green Park etc, very nice! I meant to mention them before, but 'brain fade' again. I promise not to rabbit on about vintage stuff as don't want to bore everyone, but will post a few piccies when I get a minute to sort them out.
Interesting, you guys being into scooters, never been into them myself, I was driving a Triumph Tiger Cub when I left school. Not that exciting cruise at 50, flat out 65 (with a following wind). I guess your machines are modern? There is a machine operator at one of the sites I visit that rides a 1970s Vespa to work. It looks as though it has spent several months on the bottom of the river, but still runs well. He has a 58 Lambretta at home that he has restored, seen the photos, very nice too.
Boats as well eh? Looking forward with interest to the steam launch photo, as and when. Built a 32ft narrow boat on the front lawn about 30 years ago. Had to sell it before it was fully complete as 'she who must be obeyed' fell pregnant with twins!!!! Here ends the boating. I had a wooden 24ft cruiser before that but sold it to finance the construction of the steel hull.
Something that's been bugging me ever since I started chatting to you all is that I am unable to rewmember the name of the physics master, the diminutive older one with the grey hair, definitely not Bevers Lloyd, the other one! Please put me out of my misery. (don't let the management hear me say the last sentence, she might take it literally).
Hey guys I must go, shut the chickens in before the fox has 'em.

                                                Bi for now.
