Hi all,

I'm safely back from Corfu. Haven't you all been busy ! It's going to take me a while to catch up, that's as and when my better half lets me out to play.
Welcome, also to our new members. I hope you enjoy our waffling and grumpy old men general chit chat.

Bye for now,
Rich

Hi Rich and all.
Hope you had good hols, Rich, and you manage to catch up soon!
I'm an expert waffler and 'er indoors' says that I'm a grumpy old man, does that mean I qualify?
Must go as newsletter still not finished.

                                     Bi for now.
PS The newspaper clips about Ben Coard were very interesting.

- 6/26/2009 9:22:56 AM
Welcome back Bill and Rich, we are off to Sidmouth for a few days and yes Bill I have booked.

Hi Stu, yes I was up laye (or early .. depends which end of the clock you look from) .. and yes, it was dark .. but I cheated .. I swithched the light on afterwards to check my spelling !!

Tony, glad to see you have (unlike me) booked for Sidmouth .. I like to be a bit random on holiday .. but restrictions make it difficult to "wild camp" in England now ..have an enjoyable time ..I hope the dreaded purple pointy flu virus doesn`t get get you both..

Evening All

I was on something of a latey myself last night Bill, went up to London to a gig didn't get home till 3.30am. just checked out the net etc. while the cocoa was boiling and thought to drop you a line. Hope you and your ever loving have recovered from the Dorset lurgy, shame about that, hope Tony doesn't come across anything horrid in Sidmouth.

You're bit about Glastonbury amused me, going up the A303 yesterday lunchtime the traffic heading west was abysmal, nose to tail stopped around Stonehenge, guessed a lot where heading that way by all the camping gear stuffed into the back of various vehicles and the floral VW campers, glad I was going the other way, the M4/5 coming home was largely empty.

Although the evening did have it's moments, when ever we go up to the smoke we usually park at Maidenhead station and get the train in, miss the worst of the traffic, Maidenheads close to the M4, easy parking and straight into London, last night the gig was at Brixton Academy, fine got the tube there, coming home got on the underground sat there, waited, eventually get announcement that services are cancelled, back outside 11pm. and Brixton High Street turned into Kingston, Jamaica, home boys everywhere, spot a bus going to Oxford Circus, "Shall we go upstairs?", says my Mrs. when we get up there Kingston's transferred to the top deck with us, baseball caps back to front, ghetto blasters on "11", still it was an uneventful journey and we eventually made in back to Maidenhead in one piece, and the Mrs. drove home so it took no time at all.

To you boys who like your music I can recommend the Dave Matthews Band, especially live, I'm betting they'll blow Springsteen off stage at Hyde Park on Saturday, shame about the venue though, Brixton Academy must have the worst acoustics in the world, I definately won't go there again.

Shouldn't worry about being a "grumpy" John, I've lost count of the number of times i get "That's you, that is", and waffle, if you've got this far what more can I say.

Steve you back from the Bodega yet? and Rich must have some holiday goodies for us too.

Morning All

3.30 Stu? At least you were home for tea! I will check out Dave Mathews band and let you know what I think. Will you be watching Bruce Springboard tonight? The hardest job will be to get him off the stage!! Seen him at Milton Keynes bowl, which has to be the worse open air venue and I will never go there again either. BS was on stage for over 4 hours and I secretely believe everybody was thinking 'that's enough Brucie, let's go home'!

As`you can see I am back from Bodega fully stocked, vino tinto at 1.05 euro a litre. OK its not a Grand Medoc but it's drinkable. It is getting very hot now and day before yesterday peaked at 39.9C (38.3 yesterday) so consequently nothing gets done, except sleeping, sfter 14.00. I usually manage to wake up at 18.00 for a drink. It's hell out here Carruthers!!!!

We shall be off to the market soon to get fruit and veg and then to a local bar for a few cold beers before tapas.

Hoping the Lions can pull it off this afternoon.

Hope you are all able to enjoy a bit of sunshine and enjoy a Pimms watching Murray progress at Wimbledon.

Cheers

Steve
