Hi all (especially Stu!)

You may not remember me saying about it but last Saturday we went to see Steve Winwood. He was performing in San Javier, about 15 drive from us. It is an open air ampitheatre that seats about 3000. The ambience is terrific and there is a bar and it is no problem getting a drink! Steve Winwood came on stage at 23.00 (temperature had dropped to 30C) and performance ended at 01.00. A great concert taking us through the eras of Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith and the Steve Winwood repotoire. The group were all amazing musicians and Steve was on top form. The encore consisted of an amazing rendition of "Gimme Some Lovin'" which lasted some 10 minutes. All in all a great concert and the 'winding down' drink was much appreciated by all!!!

Nothing to do with Steve Winwood but I remember 'Jinxie Jenkins' the English teacher. He went on to great things as Conservative leader of Bath Council. Did he not always wear a cravat? I also recall that I used to frequent the nude sessions on Sundays in the Bath Sports Centre (about 35 years ago). These were in the Sauna rooms and you had to have a partner (of the opposite sex!!!). Well, on the many times I went there who should be there but 'Jinxie'. I don't think he remembered me but he was always with the most gorgeous female companion you can imagine (Mrs. Williams eat your heart out!).

Great to have all these new members (sorry, wrong choice of word thinking back to those  saunas!).

Looks like there will have to be another reunion soon!!

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve

Glad you enjoyed Steve Winwood, great thing about these "legends" is that they get better as they get older I think, no baggage to carry round I suppose, nothing left to prove. Haven't got any gigs lined up at present, too busy with work, (dodging raindrops), and as soon as the seasons finished we're off on our travels, just sent off the forms for visas, hope that Urumchi has calmed down by the time we get there, don't fancy being in the middle of a war zone.

Gosh all these memories being dragged out dusted off and aired, didn't know you were in the school band Rich, I was third horn for a while, got me out of one maths lesson a week if I remember correctly, worth it even if band practise meant staying late other afternoons. And as I remember Wally Hammond was one of the better teachers, let us do our homework in detention instead of writing lines, about the only time I got any homework done was when Wally was in charge of detention. And I seem to remember that anyone arriving by train, Trowbridge line, also joined the catholic boys as the train arrived too late at Oldfield Park for them to join in assembly, mainly the reason I caught the train to school, (from Bath Spa to Oldfield Park). I'm going to have to start making notes soon before I write anything here there are so many subjects coming up, keep 'em coming boys.
