Hi Guys.
Back home now, all animals fed and watered, Poultry locked away from Brer Fox. Fed and bathed ready for beddy-bies.
Great to see you all, not forgetting Shirl of course. Glad you all enjoyed your day, I'm only sorry that I was unable to spend more time with you all, but hopefully we can all do it again some time in the future. Sue was a bit non plused by it all as she was not aware that I'd been chatting with all you guys for so long! I think it took the wind out of her sails a bit.
A special thanks to Bill for the literature, real gems! Glad to hear that you all arrived home OK with F & C on the way.
Must sign off now, another busy day tomorrow.
                                                       Regards to all.

Hi Guys,
lovely day at the airfield, just been sorting out the "piccies" to post on here. Yes John, thanks for your hospitality .. realise there is a lot to do organising such a vast array of diverse exhibits and shows ..I must comment that the toilets were some of the best (and biggest) that I have encountered at an outdoor event.

I have sunburn (as well as the photos) to prove the weather was good, even though the lower cumulus cloud base at about 28,000 ft over shadowed the event later on. Hope you get some enjoyment from the Railway stuff John, hope there is some info in them that might be new to you in your hobby. Stu, how`s Shirleys ambiton to own a Ferret coming on .?. Tony, thanks for the lift and the entertainment from the Sat Nav system(s) we had on board. (another story for me to write up perhaps?)

I think we had the better day for the weather, but it must be a huge event today, judging by the stuff we saw still heading for the site after 6 p.m. enroute to Bath. Must take the campers next year Tony. You are right, the grand kids would love it. Steam / Electric Fun fair, Aeroplanes over head, the smells, the noise of the machinery etc far too much to see in one day.

Must post piccies now, catch you all later. TTFN

Hi Guys.
            Cracking Piccies.
Weather not so good today, rained on and off all day! Surprising how many visitors still came though.
In spite of weather we had a load of stuff arrive last night and early this morning. The commercial vehicle section is almost full now, more steam, the Antinov AN3 aircraft arrived also various others, mixed in with our aircraft a freight version of the Boeing 737 landed also. I don't know if its in for service or scrapping, it has been left standing on the apron tonight, strong smell of Jet A wafted across the show as it was taxiing. More animals on section today. Were the Husky teams there yesterday?
It's getting late again, so must go. I will take a camera with me tomorrow to add to your photos, hope the weather is better than today. Incidentally, I probably didn't tell you, but for my sins I also edit the club newsletter and I feel that some of you photos  are ideal for inclusion, but I am not able to do so without your permission, obviously the source is always credited. Let me know your feelings, if you accept I will arrange for each to receive complementary copies of the show issue.
                                                 Bi for now.

Same goes for me as well John, you are more than welcome to use any of the photos I have posted, hope the weather is better today for you , looks OK so far down at Frome but then its a way off from you.
- 8/2/2009 5:34:15 PM
John,  feel free to use any of the pics I've posted, not that there's many, Tony and Bill were snapping away like crazy so I thought I'd only replicate what they'd already taken. Hope you had a better day today, the weather down here been great today, warm and sunny, busy as anything for the regatta I'm glad to be home and sitting down for a bit, think I'll have a nice cool glass of cider to chill out with.

Hi Guys,
As you can see from the growing list of "whats new" the weather over the last few days has not been good. Plenty of opportunity for me to improve the chances of deep vein thrombosis in the legs. It may go quiet for a few days, I may be going out on the bike for a change. Wonder what everyone has been up to over the weekend? Catch you soon.
- 8/4/2009 9:50:15 PM
Well I can see what you have been up to Bill, the skydrive is full to bursting with more info, hav'nt had a chance to catch up on it all yet, lets hope the weather improves or we shall run out of space.

Hi All.
Thank you all for your kind response to my request regarding use of phtos.
Yes you were all correct, Sunday was a glorious day, much to everyones relief. The showfield was absolutely teeming with people!
In fact the problem was quite the reverse of Saturday. At one stage it appeared that we may run out of parking space! On an airfield?? However we overcame the problem and all was well.
I have just finished on the site at about seven thirty tonight, and it has poured with rain all day! I'm always first on and last off, sweep up and switch off the lights, as it were. Sorry no piccies yet, but I forgot my camera on Sunday, as it happens, did not make much difference as I would not have had the time to use it!! However several other show staff somehow found time and have loads of images, have been promised that they will E Mail the best to me.
Going to sign off now guys, completely knackered, need sleep!!!
Sticky.

Hi John, glad the weather cleared up for you and you ended up on a packed day, problem that we had on Friday even though we arrived early and stayed late was fitting it all in and trying to see as much as possible in the time we had.
I think that next year it will be worth packing the camper and coming for the weekend, perhaps we can give you a hand and make ourselves usefull with a bit of marshalling or something, anyway thanks again for a great day out and well done you for a good cause.

Hi Tony and all
Feel much fresher today!
Thank you for all the kind comments. You know that you will always be welcome at the show, guys. If you fancy staying over and helping out a bit we are always glad of a hand. On Sunday I will admit we were a bit pushed for sensible assistants and can always use more. It would also give you guys the opportunity to sample the social side that takes place after the public have gone home. Barbeques, beer, music, colourful ligts and equally colourful characters.
We start planning the next one in about a month, but it really starts to gain momentum after Christmas, for now it's all over for a bit, time to relax!
Still thinking a great deal about the old school and the characters we all knew there, difficult to appreciate the great job they did when you are a spotty youth, but as life rolls on one tends to appreciate much more the benefits of their efforts.
Must go now. More soon!
                                            John.

Hi Lads

Yes, I am still alive. Must have nodded off with all this talk of steam engines and candy floss! (Is it irony or sarcasm, never could remember!).

Fires are about 2 hours drive from us so no problem - yet.   It was only 39C today and nobody here can remember the last time it rained.

I am now fully employed as beach-boy and sea-shell collector. Finding time for the odd cold beer or vino though.

Have fun

Steve

Fire,s, we would have a job keeping a bonfire going in this weather Steve, never seen so much rain in July and August, just seems to be non-stop day after day, I blame all these power stations, twenty million cubic metres of water lost to the atmosphere in a year and thats just one, its got to come down somewhere and at the momement it seems like Frome.
Serously though Steve I hope you get some rain soon and the fires don't spread your way, happy beach combing.
- 8/6/2009 8:33:47 PM
Hi Steve,
A hairy beach ... now there`s a thought .. beach combing .. get it? .. oh well, maybe not ... bac k to the Bacardi. I just came out to the work room to check on emails ..none .. messages 2.
Steve, is it very forested where you are? .. being by the coast I thought you may have a degree of immunity with the proximity of all that cool H2O.
I must agree with Tony, ththe fact that the weather forecasters have got it wrong again for today (yet again) ..sun tomorrow ..sun tomorrow .. what is it they always say in Spain .. manyana .. or banana (never sure which) ..
You were fortunate to move from blighty when you did, premonition it was surely .. to be shore ..I have disussed with her indoors about selling up the various bits we have here and moving to Farnce or is it France ..I really should  get a stronger LED in the keyboard light. But I`m inclined to think we would not make it much past Dover Castle.
I wonder, has Peter Waring been in touch with you yet ..irony .. now that`s a subject on it`s own, vests pants etc .. all need irony at one time or another .. or they look terrible .. pass that Bacardi Carole..What do you mean .. shut the damn thing down? .. It`s my computer , now push off ...sorry about that lads..needs must .. off to the little room now ... B.C.N.U. soon

Hi Steve and all.
Glad you are enjoying your life on he beach, Steve, and the associated liquid refreshment sounds good!
Reflecting the comments of Anth' and Bill, have been out today and got soaked through yet again, that's the fourth time in about a week. We shall all evolve webbed feet soon. They promise a better day tomorrow, but I'll believe it if it happens.
Enjoy the sand between the toes and hope the fires don't move in your direction.
                                                  Regards to all.

He's a rotter that Steve Coffin, ain't he boys, beach, she sells, and alkyhol. loves to rub it in, mind you I'm not so sure about the 39C.
Tony, you now know why we moved from Frome, it always seemed to be raining, I always reckoned it was geographical, the rain being squeezed between the Mendips and Salisbury Plain, we always knew when we were getting close to home in Frome, it was raining. We had a couple of nice days down here, yesterday was really quite pleasant, warm and sunny about 20C, and today looks promising.
John, mind you don't turn rusty!
And Bill easy on the Bacardi, it's affecting your spelling, it's either that or the Abba, and your trying a bit of Swedish, nudge, nudge.

Have a nice day all,      Stu
