Hi everybody

I am now back in Spain after a short visit to UK. I'm pleased you are still rockin' Stuart and we seem to have similiar taste in music. Hoping to get tickets for U2 in Barcelona. My good lady is a big fan and would dearly love to see them live. Having a young wife keeps me rockin' and even I feel the strain I daren't let on!

Can anybody tell me who the members are? Especially the ones with only a Christian name and no profile.

have fun

Steve

Hi Steve, good luck with the U2 tickets, I've heard that their stage set for this tour is something else, not a band I've seen as yet but still hoping, just don't fancy stadiums anymore. How about Benicassim. NE of Valencia in July, with Oasis, Paul Weller, Kings of Leon and The Killers and many more.

Members, two I think I can identify are, Jim - Jim Ivens, and Douggie - Doug Gray, the others I've no idea. Both Bill and I have recently dropped Jim a message to no avail, also I've recently left contact messages with others from are era through Friends Reunited also with no result, I believe that both Bill and Tony have done this in the past with similar results, makes you wonder why leave a message on such sites and then not respond to any contactdoesn't it.

PS did you have to take the good weather with you when you returned home, it's returned to rubbish here.

Only joking Bill, used to own a Transit that we called Gloria, 'cos it was always sick, Transit, Gloria, Sick, geddit?
Would have replied before but have been busy buying things on E bay, got the thumbs up today for recommencing my summer job on the quay at Appledore, so decided to celebrate by buying an electric guitar, will know if successful by midnight.
I know you watch The One Show at least occasionally, ( re. Blueberries), did you see Appledore on it tonight that's where I work, (and the pub I drink in), nice spot eh?
Hope Neil isn't going to be a silent partner like some of the others, c'mon guys can't we shame you into corresponding with the rest of us loonies, it's about all that stops us from going completely ga ga, I've got one hell of a job trying to thimk of something witty to publish that even a large dose of derision wouldn't go amiss.

Rock on Stu

Hi Tony,
Are you sure you want to come back to a blustery, wintery, now cold again Britain? ..Glad to hear you and Janice are having good weather and an equally good time (I hope). Do you still take your scooter with you?. I`ve kept hold of my little Yamaha and the hydraulic lifter rack just in case my good lady Carole and I need its services. I may overcome my avesion to the sea one day and ferry myself over to Europe .. hang on a mo .. there`s this new fangled thing under the Sea as well, now there`s a possibility then.

Stu,
I like the Transit joke, and yes saw the One Show, Appledore, I love it .. stayed on a camp site just out of town, and also in a cottage right by the harbour. It was in the street next to the quay, cottages on the right, we had just the  ground floor rooms. There was a mirror positioned inside a small niche that alowed you to look down toward the jetty at the front of the house. Good job I didn`t travel to Westward Ho! quay then wasn`t it?...that`s a super bridge across the estuary there isn`t it? (Appledore I mean). Keep a sharp lookout for a Swift Sundance motor home with green decals, I`ll put the kettle on for you.

Right, that`s it for now .. more Latin breakfast for me  Ha Ha

Think I'd prefer the sinking ship to the flooding tunnet Bill, there's fatalism for you, mind you my Mrs. used to have a thing about boats and planes, to the point of almost insisting on sitting in a lifeboat complete with inflated life jacket on the Isle of Wight ferry, and planes induced a serious nervous twitch, now she's completely blase about both, no more sneaking off on a booze cruise on me own anymore.
Glad you liked the Transit joke, 'cept it was often reality, those old Mk.2's only had drum brakes and no servo either, so dumping a 3 litre engine out of a Capri in it probably wasn't one of my best ideas, didn't half go but stopping was another matter, I finally did something about it after the brakes failed coming down Porlock Hill, I will only say that there was an awfully bad smell by the time we eventually rolled to a halt in the middle of Porlock High Street, (burning brake linings, not what you're thinking).
Good job you didn't come to Westward Ho! quay, there isn't one! If you, or anyone else is visiting this area during the summer, or at any other time come to that let me know, I'll let anybody buy me a pint I'm not fussy or unsociable. Appledore is a nice spot, relatively unspoiled, as you saw the piece on TV last night you may recall the older chap on the boat, who is a friend, I've sent you a private message about him, if you wish to share it feel free, thought I'd keep it private initially 'cos of *%^$**£ language.

Vice Admiral Stickler (third class) over and out.

Westward Ho..Stu, am I dreaming it or is / was there a small car park close to the water down a sloping pice of road at Westward Ho?.. I think it could hold about 10 or 12 cars .. might be a private jetty .. not sure. I know that Westward has nothing like the quay at Appledore..I just seem to remember this jetty on my visit to your home town/village/hamlet (delete as appropriate).

Google Earth, I`ll use Google Earth, should see it on there perhaps..

My old V.W. type 2 (bay window) camper was the same on the brakes front .. (I went the long way up the toll road at Porlock) scary as hell when we went to Wheal Kitty (old tin mine) in Cornwall, access is via a 1in 3 single track road/track. I had 4 adults, 2 kids and a dog plus luggage etc .. how we got round the bend at the bottom I do not know. 18 inches from a sheer drop...bit wiser now, but it was great fun, kids (and 2 adult women) shreiking like mad. Me shouting "lean to the left" at the appropriate moment on the way back up, no way would we have been able to stop going up that hill (well not for long) .. I`ll post the piccy of the van on the edge of the rocky outcrop one day.

I think the car park you mean Bill, is at the top of the slipway onto the beach, next to the amusment arcade at the end of the promenade, that's Westward Ho! taken care of, ( note the exclamation mark, we're rather proud of it, apparently only three places in the world have one, precious little else to recommend the place ).
If you're using Google Earth go to 51.0219.91 N, 04.1401.26 W, takes you Chez Stickler, it's in a block so not direct address, if you want that I'll send it private. Also there is a Panoramo photo taken from our living room window, but it's misplaced so you may not find it, I keep asking for it to be redirected.
At 51.0317.47 N, 04.1129.20 W. is my office at Appledore for future reference if visiting during office hours, ( for me a couple of hours either side of high tide, mostly weekends & regattas ).

Thanks for the info stu, yes, I did find the jetty o.k. and I don`t blame you for not putting your home address on here. I`d hate to think that someone I upset all those years ago might now want to visit and connect the westerly breezes into my kitchen via a large hole in the window. ( or somenthing similar ). You probably know where I am roughly in the village, and the big white blob in the garden sort of gives it away. Say no more...I`ll try and remember about the tide times, and I will let you know if I`m holidaying in your area again.

Can't remembr having upset anyone so much that they'd come all the way down here just to lob a piece of masonry through the window, more concerned with the potential of a knock on the door and the "Hello Dad we've not met before, but" !!!!!!!!

We all must have a few "experiments" that went wrong that we have no knowledge of Stu..most blokes have .. remember "Sex drugcs and Rock & Roll" .. caused more unwanted pregnancies in the 60`s .. than most of us could do , if we were rreally trying hard to start a family ..I have a thought ...why not advertise yourself on here ..sort of "find your family tree" thingy ..should brighten up the day, keep us on our toes abit,  especially if the other half joins up on here ..!!!.. Boys eh? .. never grow up do they?
